Swig & Swill
It's not all that often that a University project extends to spray-painting over 150 glass bottles and setting them all up in a small CBD laneway, but when our intent is to sociologically map the area's population, taking specific note of both its drinking and art-loving culture, everything begins to make a little more sense. Open House 2011 is an event run by about 30 design students that aims to question and provoke ideas about how society impacts on the city and how the city impacts on us. The event will run for one night only, with six large-scale works each highlighting a different aspect of the overall theme. My group's work, Swig & Swill, will explore the interactions and implications of Darlinghurst's hugely diverse populous, and how this has made the area what it is today.
